Lori Barron

Lori Barron was named Senior Policy Advisor for the Ohio Department of Insurance in July 2020.  Barron’s responsibilities include strategic planning initiatives, as well as a focus on the Department’s emerging products initiative to ensure that Ohio’s insurance industry – driven by advances in technology and data – finds a regulatory environment flexible enough to support the pace of change, while providing the highest-level consumer protections. Additionally, she actively represents Ohio at a national level through engagement with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC) on life insurance and annuity issues.
 
Barron brings to the department over 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry, having served in multiple capacities leading business and product strategy, innovation, product development, underwriting, operations and sales.  During her time in industry, she both created and led internal advisory organizations that supported cross-functional communication and the execution of innovation.  Additionally, she led teams that implemented system conversions and operations improvement efforts with an eye toward aligning information technology solutions with business strategies.
 
She is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Financial Management.  She has earned a Six Sigma Green Belt and a Masters Certificate in Organizational Leadership.
