The Consumer Services Division (CSD) offers free services to Ohio insurance consumers through telephone, online, and written communications, one-on-one meetings, and community outreach activities. Trained representatives respond to inquiries on a wide variety of insurance matters, provide educational materials on insurance products, and investigate insurance consumer complaints against companies and agents. The department saves Ohio consumers millions each year as a result of these services. Here are some additional resources to help you:

The department's Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) provides Medicare beneficiaries with free, objective health insurance information, one-on-one counseling, and educates consumers about Medicare, Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D), Medicare Advantage options, Medicare supplement insurance.

Free services are available from OSHIIP, specifically for those enrolled or eligible for Medicare. We will answer your questions about any of the matters listed below:

  • Medicare health coverage for seniors and for people under age 65 with disabilities.
  • Medicare prescription drug plans.
  • Medicare Advantage Plans (example: HMOs and PPOs).
  • Medicare supplemental insurance. 
  • Financial assistance programs for people with limited income.
  • Long-term care insurance.

Our Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) staff are available 7:30am - 5pm, Monday - Friday and are there specifically to answer your questions.
