OSHIIP Volunteer Information

Per Governor Mike DeWine’s Executive Order 2020-01D related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) banning all non-essential state travel. The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) staff will not host or participate in any public events until further notice. This travel ban includes all OSHIIP volunteers who are attending events or counseling on behalf of OSHIIP.

If you have a client who needs assistance, please refer them to the OSHIIP hotline – 800-686-1578, or you are welcome to counsel them over the phone.  But please refrain from face-to-face counseling sessions.

Volunteers drive OSHIIP. Dedicated people are needed to be volunteers in all parts of Ohio. As a volunteer you’ll learn Medicare basics; you’ll help people in your community, and you’ll have the satisfaction of taking part in a truly worthy cause.

The OSHIIP initial volunteer training consists of self-paced on-line training modules with about 8-hours of material including videos, resources, knowledge checks and a final exam.  Once the online modules are completed, volunteers meet with the OSHIIP community liaison in their area and are expected to report regular client contacts, public media, outreach, and attend annual volunteer refresher training sessions to maintain an active volunteer status.

Volunteers are always needed and wanted. Choose a date, time, and topic below, then click to register!
